having just turned 40—- just got my lab results (from my first physical in at least 10 years)— tad ironic considering the job I have… i know… OVERALL good/fine… the bad
VERY HIGH Cholesterol (230) and Triglycerides (438) with low HDL (only 31)
I may be against a log of the conventional wisdom about health and fitness…. but I haven’t exactly been following the proscribed ‘rules’ as I believe them to exist either (bad me) —- according to either I still need to exercise more, eat more veggies, and cut back on the fried/breaded items :-( …. eh… I think I liked ‘getting older’ better last year when it was just realizing that I actually had a use for nose hair trimmer :-P
All the features that disappeared or stopped working over the last few weeks appear to be back.
Yay !
I just turned 40 today— a bit happy, a bit ‘feeling old’, a bit ‘nostalgic’…. lots of things… but hey, made it this far!
Juggling, Leeloo (by Allen Marshall)
I have only listened to one track so far but the general tumblr consensus is that they’re TRYING HARD to get their old 70s sound.
However, the analysis of the results range from terrible to good with no one saying this is a GREAT album. Check out some of the recent offerings from Iron Maiden or The Sword instead.
As a platform for blogging I love tumblr.
As a social media tool it is ok.
However, while I understand that it is a free service; I find the quality of the tech support when basic features appear to be broken…to be …lacking. (to put it politely)
FWIW—- I am sort of deliberately not commenting on/blogging about the tragedy at this time.
I caught the news. … I have ideas, I have opionions
I don’t know if there’s something unique about this that I don’t want to dwell in/on it right now or if I’m just tired in general of rehashing the UBER crap that happens in the world.
In any even, I’m not avoiding it out of apathy or ignorance…. just…. avoiding it (for now at least)
Cat Scratch…
A gentle wafting of aloe pervades the feline space.
The large cats purr, contentedly gnawing on the bones of unidentifiable road-kill.
In the center of the room, a fat and bloated Glenn Danzig sits and gazes off into space-Pondering his glory days and misfit existence.
The whole phenomenon of blogs and social media is kind of weird…
On the one hand I DEFY anyone who claims to understand it to not ALSO admit to feeling or having felt ‘addicted’ to it at some point. This could be as simple as a driving need to keep up with all the posts from a favorite blog or two or a much more insane attempt to reblog everything one sees about a favorite topic.
The juggling act comes into play when we realize that in order to to have interesting things to blog about, people we’re connected to, the money to own the technology to get into the blogosphere in some fashion, etc…. one has to HAVE A LIFE BEYOND THE NET….
(AND BEFORE ANYONE GETS TOO DISMISSIVE… remember the people who made headlines because they died after playing mmorpgs for over 36 hrs straight, neglected their kids to play farmville, etc…? As a society I THINK we’ve starting to modulate things better (or maybe the real craziness just isn’t making headlines as much) but either way it’s still a serious concern….
THoughts?
